History of the Firm


TJSDD was formed on January 1, 2014, through the merger of two Georgia accounting firmsDeemer Dana & Froehle LLP, based in Savannah and Atlanta metro area, and TJS & Company, LLC located in Dublin 

Richard G. Deemer founded what was to become Deemer Davidson Prather P.C. in 1972 after spending five years with a national accounting firm. Janet L. Prather joined the partnership in 1993 and along with Mary Davidson, who retired in 2007 prior to merger, continued to grow the business concentrating on serving the engineering and architectural industries as well as small businesses.

Lazard Dana LLP was formed in 2001 with the merger of Lazard, Curlee & Company, LLP., a firm with 54 years of experience serving the Coastal Empire and Low country, and the younger but equally respected firm of Arthur Dana & Company, P.C. Lazard, Curlee & Company, LLP had its beginnings in 1948 when Bernard Lazard opened his accounting practice in Savannah after many years of practicing in New York City. In 1960, his son, Richard Lazard, joined the practice, and in 1963, Edmund Curlee joined the firm, beginning the partnership.

Later, the addition of William O. Johnson as Audit and Accounting Partner in 1978 and John E. Matthews as Partner in 1985 further reinforced the firm’s growing status as the area’s leader in public accounting services.

Arthur Dana & Company, P.C. was formed on August 1, 1999, by Arthur Dana, John Vandaveer, and Kenneth Wood, three certified public accountants with big firm experience and long tenures serving the Savannah financial community. Pamela O’Quinn, a CPA with a successful local practice on Wilmington Island, joined Arthur Dana & Company, P.C. as a Partner in 2001. 

Lazard Dana LLP continued its growth with the merger of Froehle & Co. Inc., P.C. in August 2005. This firm was founded in 1977 by Jeff Froehle and Robert “Bob” Snapp, who has since retired, in Franklin, Ohio. Although a full-service public accounting firm with local clients ranging from individuals to mid-size corporations, Froehle & Co., Inc., P.C. focused on serving the private career school industry. The result has been the accumulation of more than 26 years of performing government audits for over 120 private colleges and trade schools across the nation. Again, in 2008, Lazard Dana LLP grew by bringing in Deemer Davidson Prather P.C. which became Deemer Dana & Froehle LLP.   

TJS & Company, LLC began as an outgrowth of the Dublin office of Jones & Thigpen, P.C. In 1969 Gilbert W. Jones founded a sole practitioner accounting firm in Vidalia, Georgia and acquired the Dublin Georgia accounting practice of James H. Winn in 1971. Following this acquisition, Robert E. Thigpen, Jrjoined Mr. Jones’ firm and the two subsequently formed Jones & Thigpen, CPAs on January 1, 1972. On September 1, 1980, Mr. Thigpen sold his interest in Jones & Thigpen, CPAs and purchased the assets of its Dublin location forming what came to be known as Thigpen, Jones, Seaton & Co., P.C. Thigpen, Jones, Seaton & Co., changed their name to TJS & Company, LLC in 2013.

On January 1, 2015, Skinner, Barndollar & Lane, P.C. joined TJS Deemer Dana LLP.  Skinner, Barndollar & Lane, P.C. was founded in 1959 by the late Philip Hoffman with a rich history of providing exceptional service in the Savannah area.   Michael W. Skinner, Gail M. Barndollar, and Becky L. Lane, Partners at Skinner, Barndollar & Lane, P.C., joined the Partner Group at TJS Deemer Dana LLP in providing a broad base of taxation services with the highest integrity and excellence service.

On January 1, 2017, Hood & Palmer, CPA’s, P.C. joined TJS Deemer Dana LLP.   Hood & Palmer, P.C. was founded in 1989 by Albert J. Hood.  The firm has a long history of supporting the Dublin community and providing exceptional taxation and estate services to a wide variety of clientele through a culture of integrity, professionalism and excellence.  

On January 1, 2018, Verner & Associates, LLC joined TJS Deemer Dana LLP.  Verner & Associates, LLC was founded in 1980 by Michael G. Verner.  The firm has a long history of servicing the Atlanta area and was built on the premise that accounting is more than tax returns and monthly reports.  Michael G. Verner joined the TJS Deemer Dana LLP Partner group as Partner Emeritus, along with Brandon G. Verner and Alison E. Garrett joining as Partners.

On December 1, 2018, Lew Salmon, CPA, and his team members joined TJS Deemer Dana LLP.  Lew Salmon, founded his office in 2010, and they provide a full range of accounting, tax and advisory services.  Lew Salmon joined the TJS Deemer Dana LLP Partner group.

On September 1, 2019, Vertisys, a managed IT services company merged with TJS Deemer Dana LLP. The purpose of the merger was to expand our internal services to our accounting clients. Vertisys works with client to develop quality technology solutions for companies. Vertisys’ services range from managing a company’s servers and storage, content and email management, networking, security and managed IT services.

On November 1, 2021, Corbak Office Technology Solutions, LLC merged with the Firm. The purpose of the merger was two-fold. First, it was to expand the technology solutions to the Savannah and related areas. Second, it was to provide Human Resources Advisory Services to the client base.

Today, TJSDD is a large diverse Firm with 4 offices providing traditional certified public accounting services to clients in a wide array of industries including post-secondary schools, architects, engineers and contractors, employee benefit plan audits, not-for-profit, retail & service companies, wholesale distribution, banking and foreign business. Our focus is on providing outstanding client service by focusing on personal relationships, realizing that people and their businesses are more than just numbers. Our Atlanta, Dublin, and Savannah offices provide a full range of accounting services.
